Eels To Release Sixth Studio Album

Eels enjoyed a brief moment of success with their 1996 alternative radio hit “Novocaine For The Soul”. Although they have yet to capture that success again, main man Mark Oliver Everett has continued releasing records of pop perfection and built an impressive cult fanbase. According to their official website, Eels are preparing to release their sixth studio album, titled Blinking Lights And Other Revelations. The album is confirmed to be a double disc set, containing thirty-three tracks. The worldwide release date is slated for April 26, and will be put out by Interscope/Vagrant Records. No other details have been announced yet, but yours truly is quite curious about the direction of this new record. Will it be back to the dark pop of Electro-Shock Blues, or will it continue in a more rock-oriented vein as Shootenanny? Until then, might I suggest spending a little time with their 2000 release Daisies Of The Galaxy to help reacquaint yourself with the band. Stay tuned for more album details and possible tour dates.
