As previously reported, Eels’ new two-disc album Blinking Lights And Other Revelations is being released on April 26. The band’s official website describes the upcoming release as much more of a studio album than the stripped down rock of 2003’s Shootenanny! We can expect to hear a saxophone sextet gospel, operatic surf rock, and everything in between. The record is filled with guest musicians, including Tom Waits, Peter Buck, and The Lovin’ Spoonful’s John Sebastian. Frontman Mark Oliver Everett said the album is about “God and all the questions related to the subject of God. It’s also about hanging on to my remaining shreds of sanity and the blue sky that comes the day after a terrible storm, and it’s a love letter to life itself, in all its beautiful, horrible glory.”
