With Manchester getting ready to unleash some of its’ formidable native sons in Ian Brown, Oasis, Doves and New Order, it makes sense that the label behind the scenes from back in the late ’70s should relaunch. The collective that helped kick things off with Joy Division and then The Happy Mondays, Factory Records, is back! The label, in its fourth iteration, is now simply called F4 Records. You can check out the bands and label history here. Seeing that the first three all went bankrupt and the famed Hacienda club it was associated with is now closed, why not give it a go one more time. 24 Hour Party People probably sparked some interest and the North of England always does very well in promoting itself. Not to mention founder Tony Wilson [pictured center along with partners Peter Saville and Eric Erasmus] is always in the mix. They already have some artists signed up in Raw-T, the Young Offenders Institute and original Factory roster member the Durutti Column, aka Vini Reilly.
