Led Zeppelin And Norah Jones Appear On New Foo Fighters Album

Led Zeppelin and Norah Jones may have more in common than you think. The link between those polar opposites: Dave Grohl. The Foo Fighters are releasing a two-disc album this year, showcasing the band’s rock side on one disc and their softer side on the other. For the rock disc, they were able to recruit legendary Led Zeppelin bass player John Paul Jones to play Mellotron, piano, and mandolin on a few tracks. Guitarist Chris Shiflett told XFM: “That guy is like royalty but he was so down to earth and cool it was incredible. Of course, we managed to sneak in a few Zeppelin trivia questions and he even riffed “Kashmir” on the Mellotron for a minute. We are pretty f***ing blessed…”

Jazz singer & pianist Norah Jones also collaborated on the upcoming Foo release, specifically for the mellow-acoustic disc. Shiflett explained: “We had yet another special guest in the studio yesterday. None other than Nora Jones! The song is on the mellow disc and it’s got a really cool Elvis Costello vibe to it. Her voice is beautiful and fits the song really nice.”
