Live – Inara George In Los Angeles

Next to Robert English, Nic Harcourt turns me on to more new artists than anyone else I know. No ass-kissing here Mr. English — since moving out to Los Angeles nearly three years ago, I’ve been a devotee of Morning Becomes Eclectic, Nic’s daily program on KCRW. He’s turned me on the likes of The Like, Ray LaMontagne, and Rilo Kiley, to name a few. Add Southern California’s own Inara George to that list. With her debut album All Rise! out from Everloving, Inara’s been a regular on the LA club circuit and has earned her frequent flyer miles on KCRW. I caught Inara last Friday at Tangier in Los Feliz. Seems I’m not the only one on this bandwagon — she played to an adoring packed house. Accompanied by a piano player and a guitarist/vocalist, she played some cuts from the album, but what blew me away was her cover of Nico’s “The Fairest of the Seasons.” Inara’s returning to LA to play with her full band on March 9th at the Troubadour in West Hollywood, and for those of you making the pilgrimage to SXSW, make sure to check her out in Austin.
