Who knew that a t-shirt design could cause such a ruckus at an airport? Stereophonics frontman Kelly Jones found out that clothing could cause airline security to freak out. According to XFM, Jones was stopped at London’s Heathrow Airport after setting off the metal detector. After removing his cell phone, belt and watch he passed through the metal detector again. It was then that a security guard noticed the “evil” design on his t-shirt. So what was on this shirt? It was a design of a gun with flame coming out of the top.
Jones commented: “The guy takes me aside and says, ‘You know you’re not supposed to wear that.’ I said, ‘Not supposed to wear what?’ I honestly didn’t have a clue. I was like, ‘What am I going to do with a gun on a T-shirt?’. So he called his superior over. By this point I was like ‘You’re having a laugh, mate.’ He started asking me if it was embossed with anything, but it wasn’t. I thought he was going to ask me to strip down and change. I mean, it’s not as if my T-shirt was loaded.”
Security eventually stopped being lame and let him on his flight. Make sure to grab a copy of their new album Language, Sex, Violence, Other when it hits stores in the US on March 29.
