TV Show To Spotlight Has-Beens

There is a new reality show in the UK called Hit Me Baby One More Time where pop acts from the ’70s, ’80s and ’90s battle it out for the public vote. Each week five different acts will try to crawl back in time to sing their best known song live in the studio. They will also have to give a unique performance of a contemporary track. Among those returning to the limelight on ITV1’s first show on Saturday, April 2, are Gloria Gaynor singing “I Will Survive”, The Honeyz performing “Finally Found” and Tiffany with her track “I Think We’re Alone Now”[ which was a cover in the first place]. Other artists performing in the series include 911, Belinda Carlisle, Brother Beyond, Carol Decker, Chesney Hawkes, Haddaway, Kenny Thomas, Mica Paris and Sinitta reports Ananova. Why create when you can re-hash.

Has-beens are the new new. How long before the US steals this idea [FYI The Office premieres this week] and we see Mötley Crüe battling Hootie for tender, crisp, bacon cheddar ranches with Peter Brady as host. It’s not far off.
