The Boss To Release Solo Album, Tour

On April 25 Bruce Springsteen will release his second-ever solo album in the form of Devils And Dust. Recorded sans E-Street Band, the album is a bare bones, folk/country-inspired offering and the sequel to 1995’s The Ghost Of Tom Joad (his first solo album), which inspired his first solo tour. Springsteen told Rolling Stone, “I wrote a lot of this music after those shows, when I’d go back to my hotel room. I still had my voice, because I hadn’t sung over a rock band all night. I’d go home and make up my stories.”

The same day of the album’s release, Springsteen will kick off a 14-date US tour in support of Devils and Dust. Playing in venues up to 5,000 seats in size, he’ll run through songs from the new album, Joad and 1982’s Nebraska, as well as a few stripped-down versions of tunes from The Rising. “It’s not about acoustic versions of my hits — that’s what’s not going to happen,” says Springsteen. I want to forewarn potential ticket buyers: I’m not going to be playing an acoustic version of ‘Thunder Road.’”

In addition, Springsteen has already recorded an episode of VH1’s Storytellers to promote the release. It will air on April 23rd.

Following his US tour, The Boss will head overseas for a series of European dates in the UK, Belgium, Spain, Italy, Germany, the Netherlands, France, Denmark and Sweden from May 24-June 25.
