Want to know where your hard earned tax money is going? For the people in the state of Idaho, your House Of Representatives have been hard at work discussing the merits and contributions that the film Napoleon Dynamite has made on the state. Yes, I am serious. In their first regular session of 2005, they began work on a resolution for commending Jared and Jerusha Hess for the production of the film. Examples of their findings are as follows:
“WHEREAS, the State of Idaho recognizes the vision, talent and creativity of Jared and Jerusha Hess in the writing and production of “Napoleon Dynamite”; and
WHEREAS, filmmaker Jared Hess is a native Idahoan who was educated in the Idaho public school system; and
WHEREAS, the Preston High School administration and staff, particularly the cafeteria staff, have enjoyed notoriety and worldwide attention; and
WHEREAS, tater tots figure prominently in this film thus promoting Idaho’s most famous export”
Yes ladies and gentlemen, tater tots have now been officially mentioned during a session of Idaho’s House Of Representatives. Oh, and tetherball. How could I forget their discussion about tetherball:
“WHEREAS, Napoleon’s tetherball dexterity emphasizes the importance of physical education in Idaho public schools”
At last, Idaho’s government has finally acknowledged the benefits of tetherball. We should all be able to sleep better tonight.
