Pixies, Weezer, Dino Jr. And 57 Other Bands Set For Lolla

As I’m sure you’ve heard, this year’s Lollapalooza will be held over the course of two days in beautiful downtown Chicago’s Grant Park. Rather than a traveling circus, this year’s event will be stationary, with sixty bands performing on five stages on July 23 and 24. The lineup is pretty sick too. A who’s who of indie/modern rock outfits from around the world will converge on Chicago for this event, including the likes of The Killers, Dinosaur Jr., The Arcade Fire, Death Cab, Kasabian, Kaiser Chiefs, The Bravery, The Walkmen, Louis XIV, Z-Trip, M83, Ambulance LTD, Tegan And Sara, Shout Out Louds, VHS Or Beta and headliners The Pixies and Weezer, to name just a few. Chicago’s The Changes were also invited to attend the festivities, making them the ONLY unsigned band on the bill (A&R guys, any bells going off yet?).

A two-day pass for the event will set you back $100 if you order now, but considering the amount of music that will get you, I’d say it’s worth the price of admission. Lastly, let me just make a blatant pitch for my hometown. If you’re thinking about coming from out of town for this, do it. Grant Park is a spectacular place to see a show. I saw Radiohead a few years back in the park and I’ve never seen a better setting for a gig. The stage was surround by Lake Michigan on one side, the skyline of Chicago on the other, and the facade of the Field Museum to the rear… amazing.
