Justin Hawkins Completes Solo Record

A new genre of music has been spawned from the loins of The Darkness frontman Justin Hawkins: luxurious rock. Hawkins has completed work on his solo album, which will hit stores two months after the next Darkness release lands this fall. According to NME, he described the album as “a lot less rock than the band stuff. There’s a lot more synths. I suppose you could call it luxurious rock.”

Hawkins told The Sun: “I’d written most of it in demo form before The Darkness took off but I’ve only finished it properly recently. Anything I write with (brother and guitarist) Dan goes to the band but I’ve held on to my solo stuff.”

A solo tour is being planned to support the record, which will feature his brother on guitar. The lead single of the forthcoming release will be a cover of The Sparks’ “This Town Ain’t Big Enough For The Both Of Us”. The title of the album will be British Wall. Bring on the rock. Or something.

As for the Darkness, they have nearly completed their follow-up to Permission To Land. The group has been collaborating with famed producer Roy Thomas Baker, known for his work on Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody.” Surprise!
