Foo Drummer Taylor Hawkins To Go Solo

What happens when you are a member of a ridiculously successful band? You release your own solo album, of course! Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins has joined the list of rock band members gone solo with the release of his solo debut coming out in early ’06.

The record was written and recorded by Hawkins, joined in the studio by current Jane’s Addiction bassist Chris Chaney and a newly discovered guitarist named Gannin. The record will be released under the name Taylor Hawkins and the Coattail Riders, which will hit stores in the US in January 2006 via Thrive.

Hawkins joined the Foo Fighters in 1997, prior to the release of their album The Colour And The Shape. He is still an official Foo, who are preparing to release their new album on June 14. We will get a sample of Hawkins’ vocal abilities on the upcoming Foo album, as he performed lead vocals and wrote the song “Cold Day In The Sun”. To get a taste of his solo material, head over to his official site to check out some unmixed & unmastered recordings.
