The Killers Begin Work On Their Own “Thriller”

Now that The Killers have much larger amount of disposable income than they did just a couple of years ago, the band is now planning on producing a 25-minute movie. Yeah, the hipster version of “Thriller” is now in the works. According to Billboard, this film will be based around a murder trilogy, featuring the songs “Midnight Show”, “Jenny Was A Friend Of Mine”, along with the unreleased “Leave The Bourbon On The Shelf”.

So who will star in this mini-movie? It looks like we won’t get to see frontman Brandon Flowers in the lead role. In a recent interview with Billboard, drummer Ronnie Vannucci said: “We don’t plan on being in the movie. It’s going to be something that’s by the Killers and our idea, but it’s not going to be like, ‘Look at me.’ We want to try and make it more about the art than the exposure.”

The Vegas-based band has already taken meetings with various actors and directors. They are hoping to release the film later this year as a way to bridge the gap between Hot Fuss and their next record. Can the group keep their worldwide media domination up for another year? With a new record slated for release next spring, it is a definite possibility.
