The Strokes Nearly Finished Recording New Album

I’ve got some good news and some bad news regarding the upcoming album from The Strokes. First, the good news: the recording of the album is nearly finished. Thirteen songs have been nearly completed, so this album’s release should be so close we can almost taste it. Now, the bad news: the album may not be out until January 2006. BOOOOO!

In an email sent out to the band’s mailing list, manager Ryan Gentles said: “I can tell you that there are 13 songs that are nearly fully completed, but we still have NOT mixed the album, so we’ll continue into June and July with that. This is NOT to say that there will be 13 songs on the album….maybe there will, maybe there won’t…some could be B-sides…we’ll decide that when the recording is 100% done.”

Andy Wallace, who has worked on records by Nirvana and Jeff Buckley, will be mixing the album. No other details surrounding their untitled third album have been announced, so let the rumored seven month countdown until its release begin.
