Some call it a publicity stunt. Others have called it a retaliation towards lil miss I just ate a lemon-faced Renee Zellweger’s recent wedding. We will just assume that Jack White fell head-over-heels in love with a supermodel. The White Stripes’ frontman surprised the planet with the announcement of his recent exchange of nuptials with Karen Elson. In case you don’t know who she is (don’t worry, I didn’t either), Elson is the redhead in the Stripes’ new video for the single “Blue Orchid”. The wedding went down in Manaus, Brazil, where Jack and Meg were to play at the city’s opera house.

A statement on the group’s website reads: “Karen Elson and Jack White were married yesterday on the confluence of three rivers – the Rio Negro, the Salimones and the Amazon – in the Amazon basin in the city of Manaus, Brazil. They were married by a traditional Shaman priest on a canoe at the exact place where the three rivers meet. The bride and groom were accompanied by a small party of close friends. The best man was Ian Montone. Meg White was the maid of honor. The ceremony was immediately followed by a blessing by a priest at a Catholic Cathedral called Igreja Matric in the historical city of Manaus. This was the first marriage for both newlyweds.”

So if this is the first time for both Karen and Jack to ever tie the knot, could the rumors that Jack and Meg were once married be false? Has it all been a big lie? Will the world ever know the truth? Do we really care?
