Calla Hangs Their Hat At Beggars Banquet

In a somewhat not so surprising announcement made yesterday, New York’s Calla has officially signed with Beggars Banquet in a world-wide deal. It is about time this band has found a place to call home. They were only on the Tripwire’s Next Level chart for about a month back in the beginning of the year. Not to brag too much, but we are glad someone finally listened!

The new album was recorded in late 2004 and was produced by Chris Zane (Calla, Cloud Room) with mixing by Victor Van Vugt (PJ Harvey, Sons & Daughters). With three great records already under their belts (1999’s Calla, 2001’s Scavengers, and 2003’s Televise), it should come as no surprise that the new CD will be anything less than stellar.

Slated to come out September 27, Collisions was actually recorded for Arena Rock, but North American CEO Lesley Bleakley brought them into the Beggars Group fold. Bleakley said, “I have been in the privileged position of being able to watch this band grow musically over the past three albums. Collisions is a superb album and I am excited to be a part of their ongoing success.”

Band member Aurelio Valle agrees and commented, “We are happy to be working with Beggars Banquet. It’s the label that nurtured the bands that inspired us to play music.”
