Radiohead Say No To Live 8

Radiohead has put their families first in making the decision to not play at Live 8. Organizer Bob Geldof offered the band, who typically doesn’t shy away from global issues, a spot on the Live 8 bill in London. Guitarist and all around music guru Jonny Greenwood has recently become a father, which is preventing the band from accepting Geldof’s offer.

A statement from Radiohead’s spokesman to NME read: “They were asked but they can’t do it. Jonny is out of action because he and his wife have just had a baby and the rest of the band are spread out all over the place at that time.”

In other Live 8 news, the Scottish date in Edinburgh is now confirmed for July 6. Travis, Texas, The Thrills, The Zutons, Damon Albarn, Snow Patrol and plenty of other top-notch bands are listed as performers for the night.

Oh, and a round of congratulations goes out to Jonny Greenwood and his wife for their new baby!
