Pink Floyd Reforms For Live 8

Although Live 8 had a little drama last week, the event has kicked off our workweek with some mind-blowing news. XFM revealed that the legendary quartet Pink Floyd will reform for the London Live 8 concert on July 2. This marks the first time that the original lineup have performed together in over twenty years. Roger Waters, David Gilmour, Nick Mason and Rick Wright are finally back in action. Fans have hoped that the group would reform this year, which marks the 30th anniversary of 1975’s Wish You Were Here. Our wishes have been granted.

Bass player and main songwriter Roger Waters quit the influential group in 1983, but it seems that the band has left their problems in the past. Guitarist David Gilmour posted a statement on their official website, which said:” Any squabbles Roger and the band have had in the past are so petty in this context, and if re-forming for this concert will help focus attention, then it’s got to be worthwhile.” We couldn’t agree more.

Pink Floyd will be taking the stage in London’s Hyde Park along with Coldplay, The Cure, Keane, The Killers, Muse, Paul McCartney, REM, Scissor Sisters, Stereophonics, U2 and many more. Click here for more information on Live 8.
