Franz Ferdinand’s Drummer Becomes Third Guitarist

The flow of news surrounding Franz Ferdinand has picked up quite a bit with the release of their sophomore album coming up this fall. The British press had picked up on rumors that drummer Paul Thomson was putting his sticks down for good. Although this is not entirely false, he has taken up the position as the third guitarist for the band.

According to NME, Thomson will continue to rock the snare, but he is now playing guitar on several of the band’s new songs. During those particular songs, drum tech Andy Knowles will be filling in on drums. You may recognize Knowles, as he also plays with The Fiery Furnaces.
