One of New York City’s finest singer/songwriters, Jesse Malin, got quite a compliment last week. An Interscope Records VP gave us the heads up that the one and only Bruce Springsteen was giving shout-outs to Malin at a show in Connecticut last week and “putting the screws” to Columbia Records big cheese Donny Ienner about adding Jesse to his label’s roster. At the show, Springsteen dedicated a song to Malin. When the crowed started cheering, The Boss said, “Hey Jess, you have fans in Connecticut.” He then continued, “See Don. I told ya!” Will the stamp of approval from one of the biggest stars in the history of popular music help Jesse land a spot on Columbia’s roster? We’ll see.
In other Malin news, Jesse has just been confirmed to support his pal Ryan Adams on the prolific songwriter’s forthcoming West Coast tour dates.
