The countdown has begun until the release of Ryan Adams’ second of three albums for 2005. The first of this trio of albums was Cold Roses, which hit stores back in May. We are now up to Jacksonville City Nights, or September, or whatever Ryan is calling it now, which is currently scheduled for release on September 27th through Lost Highway. This particular album includes the random duet with Norah Jones, “Dear John.” Although that particular choice for collaboration has spurred criticism from fans and music snobs alike, I shall refrain from any comments until I hear it.
Speaking of criticism, rumors had been circulating that his band the Cardinals broke up around the time that a string of tour dates were cancelled at the last minute. In an interview with Billboard, Adams ended this speculation by saying that guitarists J.P. Bowersock and Jon Graboff, bassist Catherine Popper and drummer Brad Pemberton are still together. He added: “Anybody that says otherwise can go f*ck themselves.” Well said.
The final installment of Ryan Adams albums for 2005 will be 29, which was originally scheduled for release on November 2. Not surprisingly, that date is looking to get bumped to December. If you are itching to hear a new tune before the release of September, his song “Come Pick Me Up” will appear on the Elizabethtown movie soundtrack, which will be available on September 13.
