Indie distro company Harvest Media Group is wasting no time in doing what they can to help raise money for those in need following the devastation caused by hurricane Katrina. Their lawyers are currently setting up a 501 C3 in the name of the Walking On Sunshine Foundation. This new organization will raise funds primarily through a benefit compilation CD that will be sold both online and at retail. Retail outlet Hot Topic has already agreed committed to selling the disc at their stores. In addition, Walking On Sunshine will create bracelets to help raise funds, as well as organize a benefit show (or shows) to help the cause. All money raised by Walking On Sunshine will be donated to the relief effort.
Now here’s where YOU come in. Walking On Sunshine is currently soliciting labels, bands, solo artists, etc. to take part in this endeavor. “If you’re a musician, I urge you to consider donating a song or a live performance to this cause,” said Walking On Sunshine rep and Tripwire user Shannon Schlappi. “If you work with a record label, please contact your roster to solicit their support. As this is all new to us, we need all types of help and support. If you feel you can help provide any services, contacts, money, time, or help of any kind we need you.
