Gorillaz World Tour Could Happen In 2007

The impossible may be possible after all. How exactly do you bring an animated band to life live on stage? According to NME, Gorillaz are going to do just that. The cartoon band will appear on stage in a 3D holographic format, which will definitely break new technological ground. Due to the crazy costs of putting the show together, the world tour is not going to happen until sometime in 2007. Rather than stopping though a long list of towns, Gorillaz may set up residencies in theaters. It is still unknown if the show will feature live musicians or pre-recorded music.

Capiol Muisc UK president Keith Wozencroft told Music Week: “Gorillaz are a perfect band for the new age in that they fit with what’s happening in the digital world, and that’s what Damon (Albarn) and Jamie (Hewlett) had in mind when they began the project. We always believed there could be a move into games, films or a tour and this is the first example of us realizing one of those possibilities.”

Oh, and remember that Gorillaz movie that we heard rumors about after their debut album? Well, it still might happen. Hopefully more details will surface soon.
