Gorillaz To Perform Five Night Run In Manchester

So exactly how do you have a two-dimensional band perform in front of a live audience? This is the predicament that the animated group Gorillaz have been facing since they were created. Although we have already reported the development of their live holographic tour, which will be ready to roll for dates in 2007 and 2008, the group has also announced a five-night run at the Manchester Opera House.

For five consecutive nights, Demon Days Live will feature guest musicians recreating the album live onstage. For these performances, which are part of the inaugural Manchester International Festival, the animated characters will take a backseat to the guest musicians being brought together for the first time ever. Confirmed musicians include Happy Mondays’ Shaun Ryder and Roots Manuva, with plenty more to be announced. These performances will take place from November 1 – 5.

The Gorillaz dates are being called the curtain raiser to a series of events held to promote the 2007 festival. The Manchester International Festival is being called the world’s first international event to showcase original new work, making Gorillaz the perfect “group” to get things started. Tickets go on sale soon, which you will be able to snag from the festival’s official site.
