Chicago’s Metro Announces Rock & Rebuild Benefit

Like clubs, bands, labels and radio stations all across the nation, Chicago’s famed rock club Metro will be hosting its own Katrina benefit show called “Rock & Rebuild: A Hurricane Katrina Benefit Concert”. Featuring some of the city’s most beloved acts, the show will take place on October 10 and is co-presented by Chicago Tribune’s “On The Town”, WGN-TV, Metromix, RedEye and The McCormick Tribune Foundation. All of the proceeds from the show will go to the Hurricane Katrina Relief Campaign of the McCormick Tribune Foundation to benefit non-profit agencies providing short and long-term aid to those in regions affected by the storm.

Even if you’re a selfish bastard and don’t care about helping people at all, the show boasts a stellar line-up that is far better than the measly $20 ticket price. The line-up will include the buzz-worthy Beatle-esque sounds of rock & roll darlings The Redwalls, the dance-tastic coolness of soon-to-be-signed quartet The Changes, and the newest addition to the Polyvinyl label roster, The M’s. The funk/soul collective Bumpus and progressive hip-hop act Abstract Giants are also on the bill. Between sets, the Life During Wartime DJs (DJ CB, Mother Hubbard and J2k) will be bringing the spirit of their monthly dance parties to the Metro, ensuring at least 80% of the booties in the joint will be shaking.

Tickets are available through the Metro Box Office (no service fee) or through Ticketmaster.
