Massive Attack Preparing New Album For 2006

Robert “3D” Del Naja isn’t quite done with Massive Attack yet. In fact, he has been in the studio throughout the year working on songs for the follow-up to their last proper full-length, 100th Window. Sure they also composed the soundtrack for the film Danny The Dog, but we’re not counting that one. He has been keeping his fans up to speed on the album’s progress on the Massive Attack website, stating that five songs are nearly done and have taken a “gothic soul direction”.

He said: “Been a fertile year. Lots of new recordings and talented people been in and out of our studio which has become home now. I have been trying out new and old techniques and have come up with a new gothic soul direction. We have recorded vocals on about 5 tracks and have vocals to put down on at least 15 before Xmas, which is drawing horrifically close.”

So far the guest vocalists include Horace Andy, Liz Frazer, Beth Orton and Terry Callier. No specific release dates have been announced as of yet, but it should be safe to assume that the tunes will be available at some point in 2006.
