Jarvis Cocker Adds Poet To Resume

I am so happy to see Pulp’s Jarvis Cocker back in the limelight. Yes, most of us know about his upcoming work with the Harry Potter film (and the made up band whose name can not be mentioned due to legal reasons), but did you know that our little Jarvis is a poet as well? Cocker’s hometown of Sheffield, England is home to the Off The Shelf literary festival, and a poem penned by Jarvis is to be mounted on a building there. Titled “Trashed On Cider” (which happens to be my favorite adult drink), the poem will be displayed on a wall of The Forge, a student campus building, in steel letters.

Organizer Maria de Souza was quoted in The Observer as saying, “We were looking at ways to strengthen our appeal to a younger audience. Hopefully it shows that poetry and literature are for everyone.” The Tripwire can only hope that it is reminiscent of “Common People”… She came from Greece she had a thirst for knowledge / she studied sculpture at Saint Martin’s College…

If that wasn’t all, Jarvis is currently working on songs for a debut solo album. A&R types take note; word on the street is that Jarvis does not have a deal yet and will begin shopping after recording. This is a Pulp lover’s dream come true! Although a Pulp reunion would be nice too.
