Belle & Sebastian Ready New Album For Old Label

In case you missed this juicy little tidbit of info on various message boards and the like, you’ll be happy to know that Glasgow, Scotland’s favorite indie/chamber/pop outfit Belle & Sebastian have set a release date for the follow-up to 2003’s Dear Catastrophe Waitress. Called The Life Pursuit, the 13-track, Tony Hoffer-produced album is slated to hit shelves on February 6 in the UK and a day later in the States. The album will be released, like Dear Catastrophe Waitress, through Rough Trade in the UK and Europe, Toshiba in Japan and Spunk in Australia. However, for North and Central America the band is leaving Rough Trade USA and returning to Matador Records. Matador released all B&S records from If You’re Feeling Sinister in 1996 to Storytelling in 2002, before the band signed to Rough Trade.

B&S will begin 2006 with a series of dates in the UK and Ireland, from a January 15-17 home stand in Glasgow to a gig at London’s Hammersmith Apollo on February 10. The band has plans for a worldwide tour in ‘06, so just keep your fingers crossed and hope that the US will be the first stop.

We’ll keep you posted as more info is revealed (obviously).
