Though he’s the lead singer of a successful rock band AND a college student, Weezer’s Rivers Cuomo hasn’t “gotten any” in over two years. What a looser, right? Just kidding. Actually, Cuomo’s dry spell is the result of a self-imposed two year vow of celibacy. However, now that his two year deadline has come and gone (it ended about six months ago), Cuomo says his streak won’t be coming to an end any time soon, telling Blender, “The vow is over, but I wanted to keep cruising. Abstinence doesn’t require as much self-discipline anymore. We never had any serious groupies, anyway. Our generation got screwed.”
This news makes the band’s last video for “Beverly Hills” seem slightly odd, as it was shot at the Playboy Mansion and featured bunnies running around in their typical less than revealing clothing. Perhaps that location was chosen to be the ultimate test of will for Cuomo, or just to be ironic, but in either case he apparently made it out of the grotto without any bunnies sinking their silicone ‘claws’ into his celibate, born-again-virgin loins.
Cuomo has one semester left to finish up his degree in English Literature from Harvard. Good luck Rivers!
