If you made it out to the Philth-Y party with Spank Rock last night chances are you grabbed yourself a drink ticket, fulfilled your sneaker fetish with free kicks from Converse, copped a gift bag full of Diplo schwag, and might have even gotten a winter jacket or beanie giveaway from 55DSL. The event was the second installment of a new monthly gathering (the first of which attracted 150 people through the pouring rain) at Luke & Leroy’s, a swanky niche in New York’s East Village. Despite current transportation issues, the bar remained clustered, while in the back lay a comfy lounge flush with candlelight and a magnolia centerpiece. Upstairs resided the dope show of a DJ set by Devlin & Darko of Spank Rock and JP001, who as a member of Diplo’s squad has recently signed to indie hip hop label Big Dada. Spank Rock hails from Baltimore and has been well-received in NYC throughout the past six months and shared the stage with M.I.A. on her most recent headlining tour of the states. The new album, YoYoYoYoYoYo, is due out in ‘06. Meanwhile, you can peep the tracks at www.myspace.com/spankrock.

Keep your eye out for the next Philth-Y event. Free stuff rules.
