Pedro The Lion Roars No More

Another one bites the dust. In what could be considered the first official breakup of 2006, Pedro The Lion is no more. Musician TW Walsh has decided to move on, focusing his efforts on his own project titled The Soft Drugs. Meanwhile, songwriter David Bazan isn’t letting this slow him down one bit, as he plans on releasing his first solo album next year, after which he will revisit his side-project Headphones.

The split between Walsh and Bazan was on positive terms. Walsh said this in a recent press release: “Dave and I are still buddies. I wish him the best, and I know that he’ll continue to thrive and grow as an artist on his own…I think his best work is still ahead of him. As for me, I’m thankful for all the experiences that my tenure with the band provided, but I am sure that this was the right decision for me and my family.”

Bazan will road test some of his solo material as he embarks on the Undertow Orchestra Tour. As reported yesterday, the songwriters-on-parade love fest includes Will Johnson (Centro-matic), Vic Chesnutt, Mark Eitzel and obviously Bazan. In case you missed it, here is a link to the dates.
