British Sea Power Is Now One Man Down

OK, should I start with the good news, or the bad news from British Sea Power? Since it is Friday, lets get the bad news over with first. I am just going blast through it quickly, sort of like when you rip off a band-aid. Hold tight, here it comes… keyboardist Eamon Hamilton has left BSP to focus full-time on his other band, Brakes. This doesn’t come as to much of a surprise, although we have to wonder which band member will now wear the helmet during live performances of “Apologies To Insect Life”.

Moving on to the good news, British Sea Power are now already working on the follow-up to last year’s brilliant album Open Season, which was recently awarded silver-disc status by the British Phonographic Institute for hitting 60K in UK sales. Congrats lads! Since they are currently in the early songwriting stages of constructing their third album, we still have plenty of time to wait for any concrete news on its contents.

If you are craving some new BSP music, as you should be, then snag a copy of their limited edition, hand numbered and signed 7” single “I Am A Cider Drinker”. Only 1,966 copies of this were printed up, which are still available from the band’s official site.
