Psychedelic rock is still alive in well deep in the heart of Texas. Taking their name from the classic Velvet Underground song “The Black Angel’s Death Song”, the Austin-based group The Black Angels are set to release their full-length album Passover on April 11 via Light In The Attic Records. They call their music “Native American Drone ‘N’ Roll”, which is a pretty accurate description of their trance-inducing sound.
While the band hasn’t been around too long (since May of 2004), their nonstop touring has helped them gain a strong following that stretches from Austin to the west coast. The group is now set for a month-long tour, which will run through the end of February, plus an appearance in March at SXSW.
