Cast Announced For Joy Division Film

The wait is finally over for the announcement of the cast for the upcoming biographical film on the life of Joy Division’s Ian Curtis. NME reports that the roll of Curtis will be played by newcomer Sam Riley. Curtis’ lover Annik Honore is to be played by German actress Alexandra Maria Laura, while actress Samantha Morton will play the part of his widow Deborah Curtis.

The film, titled Control, will be the debut movie for director Anton Corbjin. Based on the book by Deborah Curtis, Touching From A Distance, she will also receive co-production credits on the film.

Music is obviously an important part of this film, which will include an interesting treat. New Order will be re-recording a few Joy Division songs for the film, which must mean that the movie has the seal of approval from Curtis’ former bandmates. No tentative release date is available as of yet.
