Oui. J’aime manger du fromage! Like mix tapes? Like the French? Like it when the two tango (that’s Argentnian, I know) together to produce French mix tape babies? If so, then boy there is a CD out there for you. Next Tuesday, French crooner Serge Gainsbourg will be honored by some of the top indie bands out there today with the release of Monsieur Gainsbourg Revisited, a tribute album in his honor. Placebo, Cat Power, Franz Ferdinand, The Rakes, Jarvis Cocker, and Portishead all contribute to the release, as do music veterans Michael Stipe, Marianna Faithfull and original Gainsbourgian chanteuses Jane Birkin and Françoise Hardy. Luckily for us the songs are in English this time around. Monsieur Gainsbourg Revisited will come out February 27 via Barclay Records.
