Synth-pop godfathers Erasure will release a new album called Union Street on April 18 via our pals at Mute Records. The record finds Erasure taking a new, acoustic approach to some of the classic songs they’ve churned out over their 20-year career. Yes, you read that correctly, Erasure have compiled 11 acoustic tracks in an effort to, as Andy Bell puts it, “show the songs in a different light and show that they could work on whatever instrument – synthesizers or guitars.” The band currently has a string of European acoustic dates sets up in April, but according to a spokesperson for the band, a limited US acoustic tour is in the works for May. We’ll keep you posted.
