Eighteen-year-old Anar Badalov and ninteen-year-old Flora Wolpert-Checknoff are the Baltimore-based duo known as Metal Hearts. Their brand of mopey bedroom rock had earned them a deal with Suicide Squeeze Records which led to the release of the band’s debut album, Socialize, just last week (Feb 21). These talented, multi-instrumentalist youngsters will kick off a North American tour in support of that release this week with a show at Washington DC’s Black Cat. Twenty-one dates in all, the trek will include two performances at SXSW and a series of dates with Ester Drang and Headlights. If you can’t catch them this time around, the word from Metal Hearts camp is that the band will be on tour pretty much all year, so chances are they’ll be back around at one point or another.
