Never Challenge Inara George To A Face Slapping Contest

We were first introduced to the wonderful Inara George last year with the release of her album, All Rise. As one of my favorite albums of last year, I have made it a point to catch her live whenever possible. Her beautiful pop songs shine through the murky water of the current indie rock scene, giving us a much needed breath of fresh air.

She has been quite busy, working on multiple projects and various records, including a collaboration with Idlewild’s guitarist Rod Jones. She is also continuing to work on another record with Mike Andrews, which she hopes to have completed by May. She has a few other records and projects in the works, which you can read about on her official website.

As if this wasn’t enough to keep Inara busy, she is currently on tour with Nada Surf. For our friends in NYC and Boston who are attending these shows, make sure you arrive early for her set. I can promise you that she is worth it. To document her time on the road with the Nada Surf guys, she has been filming some of the whacky behind-the-scenes goings on for her online video diary. On her most recent posting, you can see her slapping the hell out of the faces of her touring buddies. For such a cute individual, she has some real power behind those hand slaps. See this for yourself by clicking here, then go to her media page.

Win Tickets To See FELA! On Broadway

We’re not sure Fela Kuti’s epic story should be told in any other format besides the musical, and we don’t even like musicals!  That said, it just so happens we’re giving away two tickets to see the show for zero dollars. All you need to do is leave us a haiku in the comments before [...]
