Party: Stolen Transmission @ SXSW

Stolen Transmission is a brand new record label formed by industry vet and current Executive VP of A&R for Island Records, Rob Stevenson and the one and only Ultragrrrl, Sarah Lewitinn, who needs no introduction. Their mission is this (in their own words):

“Stolen Tranmision is a trendsetting new record label and on line community built for a new generation of music thirsty kids. Combining the back-end resources of [a] ‘major label’ and the DIY ethics and ambition of an indie label, Stolen Transmission offers its bands and fans the best of both worlds. Our aim is to not only discover, develop and showcase the most promising artists in the country but to also build a truly supportive, creative and (most importantly) fun community around this label and our bands.”

Well it appears we’ll be able to put their “fun” level to the test down in Austin next week, as the label will be throwing a friday night party at 400 Nueces (corner of 4th and Nueces). The line-up looks pretty damn fun to me:

09pm: Nightmare Of You
10pm: Boy Kill Boy
11PM: Damone
12pm: Lady Sovereign
01am: Foreign Islands

The Misshapes will be on hand, lending their DJ skills to the shin dig as well.

You have to RSVP if you want to party and to do that you have to sign up for the Stolen Transmission mailing list. Sneaky, I know… but hey… what are you gonna do.

Win Tickets To See FELA! On Broadway

We’re not sure Fela Kuti’s epic story should be told in any other format besides the musical, and we don’t even like musicals!  That said, it just so happens we’re giving away two tickets to see the show for zero dollars. All you need to do is leave us a haiku in the comments before [...]
