Austin: Field Music @ The Levi’s/FADER Trading Post

Music at the Levis/FADER Trading Post is now officially underway. The UK supergroup Field Music just wrapped up their set, kicking off the festivities here in Austin in style. The core three members of this British group consists of Andrew Moone, plus brothers Peter and David Brewis. Their brand of catchy, ’60s influenced pop got the crowd moving with songs including “Tell Me Keep Me”, “You’re So Pretty” “Shorter Shorter” and plenty of others.

As a three piece, the instrumentation was drums, keys and guitars, with the keyboardist doubling up on synth-bass as well. Their swirling melodies may not seem complex at first, but if you listen carefully to their intricate time signatures mixed with the weaving of the guitar and keyboard lines, you can hear that there is lots of craftsmanship behind these tunes. For the first band of the day to be as brilliant as Field Music, we are in for one hell of a ride here in Austin.

Field Music’s full-length album is being released in North America on April 4th via Memphis Industries US.
