Austin: Rumble Strips @ The Levi’s/FADER Trading Post

Up until now, when I heard about rumble strips, I only thought about those annoying pseudo-speed bumps placed in residential areas to keep drivers from speeding. That will no longer be the case, as I have now experienced the Devonshire, UK based group Rumble Strips.

Sometimes you just need a band to be a damn good time and Rumble Strips totally delivered the goods in a saxophone and trumpet wrapped package of pop goodness. Many influences came to mind while watching Rumble Strips do their thing, including the better ska groups, indie pop and everything in between. Fronted by the vocal gymnast Charlie, he is backed some damn impressive musicians, including trumpet main man Henry Clark and badass saxophonist Thomas Gorbut.

While many in the crowd were new to the band, it didn’t take long for Rumble Strips to have everybody eating out of the palms of their hands. Heads were nodding, asses were shaking and we all had a mighty good time.

This post has to be quick, as I am NOT going to miss our next saxophone flavored band here at the Trading Post, The Zutons. Bring it!
