Jose Gonzalez Tours, Re-Releases Veneer On Mute

Soft-spoken Swede Jose Gonzalez has “officially” signed to Mute Records (we actually wrote about it in December of ‘05, hence the quotes). In celebration of this new partnership, Mute will re-release Jose’s acclaimed debut album, Veneer, on April 4. The album, which is already gold in the UK, was first released here in the States by Hidden Agenda last summer and was one of my top 5 albums of last year. It’s really amazing, go buy it.

Gonzalez is in the midst of a post-SXSW mini-tour and will play a KCRW-presented show in LA tonight @ Jensen Rec Center, followed by a few East Coast gigs.

Word on the street is that Jose will release his next album later this year, though it may have been pushed to early ‘07. We’ll keep you posted. Until then, here’s his current US dates:

03.21.06 – Los Angeles, CA (Jensen Rec Center, presented by KCRW)
03.22.06 – New York, NY (Joe’s Pub)
03.23.06 – Boston, MA (Museum Of Fine Arts, supporting The Books)
03.24.06 – New York, NY (Bowery Ballroom, supporting The Books)
03.25.06 – Philadelphia, PA (International House, supporting The Books)
03.28.06 – New York, NY (Joe’s Pub)
