Decoder Ring To Perform In NYC

Whenever I get a hot tip on a must-see show in the NYC area, I feel it is my responsibility to let you all know. The amazing Australian group Decoder Ring have left their boomerangs back at home and made the two zillion hour flight here to New York. If you happen to be unfamiliar with their beautiful, textural soundscapes that made up their self-titled 2002 debut, you’ll get another shot when they release their soundtrack to the film Somersault on May 2. Fans of Royksopp, Mogwai, Sigur Ros, This Mortal Coil, Bjork and Air will totally dig Decoder Ring. For a sample of their music, click here for a MP3 of the title track off the upcoming soundtrack.

The band is performing in NYC tonight as part of the Australian Music Collective at the Mercury Lounge, and then again at 8pm on Saturday night at Pianos. If you are down for some fantastic live music, make sure you catch one of these shows.
