Smoosh Sign To Barsuk

Pre-pubescent pop duo Smoosh have inked a deal with Barsuk Records for the release of their sophomore album. Called Free To Stay, the album will street on June 20 and will be preceded by a national tour with The Eels beginning with two shows at LA’s Roxy on May 25 and 26.

For those that aren’t familiar with Smoosh, the band is made up of two sisters from Seattle named Chloe (drums) and Asya (keyboard/vocals). They are 12 and 14 years old, respectively, and they’re already much cooler than you.

Where most kids their age are gossiping about who got to first base with whom and walking around the mall with their friends, Chloe and Asya have already self-released a critically-acclaimed debut album and spent a year on the indie rock circuit, touring North America and Europe with Jimmy Eat World, The Go! Team, and Mates Of State. They’ve also played US gigs with Rilo Kiley, Pearl Jam, Death Cab (who’s Jason McGerr is their drum teacher), Sufjan Stevens and Cat Power.
