The satellite radio steel cage death match battle between XM and Sirius just took a new turn. With Sirius catching up in record speed, largely due to Howard Stern, XM has found a new partner to help create some innovative content. XM and bi-coastal music venue Knitting Factory have now joined forces to create a regular concert series for broadcast. This new programming will debut this fall on XMU, their independent/college channel. Performances will be recorded at both the Los Angeles and New York Knitting Factory locations, featuring emerging and influential artists from various genres.
This concert series is actually a pretty cool idea, giving indie bands live exposure to a nationwide radio audience. The date and content for the debut of Live From The Knitting Factory has yet to be announced.
