Tripwire favorites Tapes ‘n Tapes will have just announced a full North American tour for the month of June. The blog-discovered band is now receiving a bit of radio play and TONS of press from more “traditional” outlets like Rolling Stone and The New York Times for their debut album, The Loon, despite the fact that they lack label representation.
Doing things the smart way, Tapes ‘n Tapes have been touring their asses off, earning new fans all across the country for the past year and this spring is no exception. Before kicking off their June trek with another Tripwire favorite, Silverlake’s The Coldwar Kids, Tapes ‘n Tapes will play two shows in Chicago (April 28, 29) and two in their hometown (May 5, 7). They’ll then embark on a UK tour through the end of May, returning just in time to hit the road in US.
Last night, however, the band warmed up with a secret hometown gig at Hexagon Bar under the moniker Elvis ‘n Elvis. They debuted a new bass player, Erik Applewick (Vicious Vicious), and according to Tripwire user Todd Hansen, it was a “Ragingly great time!” You can peep some photos of the show on Todd’s Flicker page.
