The Charlatans UK’s ninth studio album, Simpatico, debuted at #10 in the UK this week. This marks their seventh top ten debut, which is mighty impressive. US fans will be able to get their hands on the new album on May 2. To celebrate its release, Tim Burgess and his mates will play a round of North American dates starting on May 16 in NYC. The band will then wrap up their brief stateside run on the west coast, concluding in San Diego on June 8. I happened to catch their brief set at the Levi’s/FADER Trading Post during SXSW. Tim & Co. totally still have it, so make a point to catch them if they are rolling through a town near you. “The Only One I Know” is still a damn good song, which is even better live.
