NYC’s Rothko Closed… Again

As I was running through my normal list of blogs today, I stumbled upon some very interesting news regarding the NYC venue Rothko on Brooklyn Vegan. Seems that everybody’s favorite firetrap is closed yet again. The club was forced to close their doors after last Thursday’s Blues Traveler show. The initial rumors were that it was due to some whacky tobacky being consumed inside, but it turns out that this was not the cause.

Tricia Romano from the Village Voice reported: “The club was shut down after last Thursday’s Blues Traveler show, when the buildings department determined that the two-year-old venue’s floors needed reinforcing. Owner Rory Maher is renovating the club for the next month or so and diverting his bookings to other spots around the city. A new, improved Rothko will arrive just in time for summer.”
