Thom Yorke To Release Solo Album

After rumors have bounced around about the possibilities of Thom Yorke’s work on a solo album, the Radiohead frontman has finally let the cat out of the bag. Stereogum was keeping an eye on this over the weekend, and happened to catch the good news! Although at first it seemed like a possible hoax, NME has confirmed the solo-tastic announcement.

The original note from the W.A.S.T.E. email list, written by Thom, stated:
this is just a note to say that something has been kicking around in
the background that i have not told you about.
its called The Eraser.
nigel produced & arranged it.
i wrote and played it.
the elements have been kicking round now for a few years and needed to be
finished & i have been itching to do something like this for ages.
it was fun and quick to do.
inevitably it is more beats & electronics.
but its songs.
stanley did the cover.
yes its a record!
no its not a radiohead record.

OK, so it is called The Eraser, Thom wrote the songs and played the instruments, longtime Radiohead buddy Nigel Godrich produced it, Stanley Donwood did the artwork, and XL will release the album on July 11.

To help extinguish any Radiohead breakup rumors before they even begin, Thom added: “as you know the band are now touring and writing new stuff and getting to a good space so i want no crap about me being a traitor or whatever splitting up blah blah… this was all done with their blessing. and i don’t wanna hear that word solo. doesnt sound right. ok then thats that.”

Sorry about calling The Eraser a solo record, Thom! What exactly should we call it? Peep the tracklisting:
