Crraaaaaazy. Ooooooooh craaaaaaaaazy. Even Gnarls Barkley is getting tired of hearing that chorus. Their smash hit “Crazy” has ruled the top of the UK charts for nine consecutive weeks and they are ready to move on. To help push their next single, “Smiley Faces,” Gnarls Barkley have decided to delete “Crazy,” ending its domination of the charts. The new single is currently set for release on July 17.

So why axe such a successful single? The band, in the character of Gnarls Barkley, explained in the following statement on NME: “I consider myself a realist. I suppose that goes for most of us. But I have found a way to at once hold them, fold them, walk away and run. This was not a painless decision. But pain is nothing but a bi-product of beauty. Potentially toxic, to be sure, but that’s all it is.”

Fun fact: “Crazy” is the longest running number one UK single since Wet Wet Wet’s “Love Is All Around.” Maybe someday that will pop up as a Trivial Pursuit question.
